Never one to turn down the opportunity to review lingerie samples, when Luis offered me the chance to write a piece about Globlove’s SS12 and Film Noir collections I didn’t just jump at it, I hurtled myself. Immediately, the image of the brand’s home page surfaced in my mind of a model wearing the most adorable pink ruffled knickers. Making a secret wish, I hoped designer and founder of the company Liana Artinian would send a pair in her package of samples.

Having visited the company’s site several times in the past, entranced by the beautiful imagery and extremely affordable pieces, I already knew a little about the brand. Globlove was started by Montreal native Liana Artinian after spending three years working abroad and collecting a myriad of life experiences. The brand’s first collection was inspired by the very whims and tastes of its designer. Seductive black laces and playful pink tulle allude to a woman who is not afraid to embrace her femininity while staying true to her individuality.

What makes this brand truly unique is its determinism to give back. Five percent of all proceeds go toward FINCA, an organization offering microfinance opportunities to women in developing countries. Globlove hopes to use this affiliation to promote female empowerment.

When I met up with Luis to receive the samples I was impressed by the presentation of the packaging. He handed me a small silk drawstring bag emblazoned with the Glovelove logo. Too excited to wait until I got home I opened the bag and snuck a peek. To my delight a pair of pink ruffled knickers were sitting atop a neatly folded pile of lacey confection.

The very first piece I tried on was the Petite Internationale Slip, an allover floral lace design with graphic lines blended in between the lace. Even though I typically wear a size S, the medium fit well, slightly big in the cups but perfect throughout the body. I noticed the lace rubbed against my skin a little harshly but that little detail was forgotten the moment I looked in the mirror. Standing there I found myself gaping at my reflection. I was transformed! This piece will make anyone instantly feel sexy, sultry, and sophisticated. Three S’s that will empower any woman and instill confidence. I found it hard to take off the slip and come back to reality but eventually I consented, eager to see what else was inside the silk drawstring bag.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Accompanying the Petite Internationale Slip was the Petite Internationale Set, a dynamic black lace bralet and brief duo. A little hesitant at first about the bralet, my experience in the past had always been they offered no support, I was amazed when I hooked the back and found myself with a piece that fit like it was custom designed for me.  Unfortunately, again usually a size S, I found the briefs a little too small (however that did not stop me from wearing them). The black bikini style briefs feature a ruffle detail along the top, adding an element of girlish quality to the overall sexy appeal. The set instantly became a favorite pick me up for dull, drab days. .

 

 

 

 

 

The next item I tried on was the soft cream Paris 2am Bodysuit. I will be honest, I have never understood bodysuits, so instead of wearing the piece to bed I incorporated it into an everyday outfit. Paired with my favorite jeans and a flowy low-cut shirt that allowed the lacey detail to peek out I felt ready to tackle the day ahead of me. Be aware that this bodysuit is a thong in the back and can ride up in the front. Otherwise consider the Paris 2am Bodysuit a great piece for private play or everyday use as a fashion accessory.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Saving my obsessions for last, included in silk drawstring bag was the Savannah Slip and knicker set. Made out of lightweight meshy fabric, the Savannah slip is the perfect piece for hot summer nights. The two seams along the front create a slimming affect, while the ruffle detail along the bustling makes you feel like a princess. A great detail to note is that the straps on this slip as well as the Petite Internationale Slip are adjustable. After trying on all the other pieces in a size S from Globlove I’ve come to the conclusion they run a bit small (that or maybe I truly have graduated from the lovely world of size S to M). In the case of this slip it being a touch too small meant my breasts tended to not want to stay covered by the fabric. However, after adjusting the straps this problem was soon resolved.

 

 

 

Okay, onto the knickers. The ones I had been daydreaming of since the very beginning of my assignment. Where to begin? First of all, size S for this pair was perfect! The stretchy mesh fabric is giving and extremely comfortable. The cut is flattering from all angles and makes one want to prance about the house in nothing but the knickers (trust me when I say this). Needless to say they became my favorite underwear to wear, always wanting to opt for them whenever wearing a flouncy skirt or dress.

 

 

 

 

 

 

My gratitude goes out to Globlove for allowing me to review these pieces. After experiencing fit and comfort, and knowing just how affordable everything is, at the top of my next-to-buy list is the Back to Black Set for my continued exploration into this brand. There’s no such thing as too much of a good thing.
