Clare Bare Lingerie Alchemy AW12
As we get closer to the upcoming Lingerie Designer Showcase, we want to share with our readers each exhibitor’s collections. Today, we’re taking a look at Clare Bare Lingerie’s latest collection, Alchemy.
“My latest collection, Alchemy, was mostly inspired by my foray into the organic dye process. I had a lot of fun experimenting with mixing Brazilian Logwood, Lac, and Caribbean Plant dyes with naturally occurring metal mordants, taking raw materials and transforming them into something more magical and beautiful, hence the name Alchemy,” explained Clare to Dana Givens in a recent TLJ profile. “I also created my own silkscreens for this collection- drawing inspiration from anatomy, symmetry, and mysticism.”
As Clare noted, each piece is hand dyed with mixtures of naturally occurring Aluminum with Brazilian Logwood, Indian Lac, and Caribbean plants, resulting in faded jewel tones designed to bring out the beauty in any skin tone.
“Each piece in this collection is created as a work of art with painstaking effort and love,” added Clare.
All of her pieces are made in house with the assistance of local creatives, using sustainable practices and natural and handmade dyes.
The designs range everywhere in between fashion and function. Soft cup bralettes, bodysuits, panties, and garter belts are created with a modern take on vintage styling.
