The Power of Lace: Rock or No Rock, This Suit Rocks

It was love at first sight, we were meant to be together forever. I could hear the church bells ringing as I admired her pure presence and beauty.
Then, like a high school English teacher waking me from a blissful desktop slumber, I heard in a firm female voice, “That suit is part of the bridal collection.” Slapped out of smitten and punched with rejection! Yet another heartbreak! I thought I had found the one, and you’re telling me I don’t fit the description!?
Instantly the music in my head went from Church Bells to the soundtrack of The Shining as I scanned the left hands of the upper east side swimsuit shopping gals…DIAMOND AFTER DIAMOND AFTER DIAMOND.
Kandice Pelletier’s white one-piece suit went from the tip of my fingers to a mile away just like that. Then I got a grip and my relentlessly delayed senses came back to me.
“‘Rock or no rock, this suit rocks!’ Like Romeo and Juliet, despite our differences, we just had to be together. I would find a way”
“Wait a minute Katrina, when have you EVER obliged to anyone else’s standards? It’s a white bathing suit for the love of god. No, Sales lady, you will not rain on my parade today! Rock or no rock, this suit rocks!” Like Romeo and Juliet, despite our differences, we just had to be together. I would find a way.
I hurried home, and did what I do best: banged out a couple of impulsive phone calls and emails, one of them to Kandice Pelletier herself:
I am in love with your white one-piece swimsuit. When I see it I am reminded of photographs of Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor in their white bathing suits on the beach. I have never before seen swimwear that embodied such elegance. I write a column for The Lingerie Journal and I would like to feature that suit for my summer eddition. Please let me know if you are interested.
What I wanted to tell her is that white, like my name, represents purity and innocence (ironically a color I have always been attracted to.) To be pure, you must never loose your curiosity towards the world. Eternally conscious of your ability to learn from mistakes and grow with successes. A one piece is always refreshing to see on the beach for it implies fleshy rather than skinny.
A girl must fill out a one piece. The suit itself ignites curiosity in others too, for unlike a string bikini, one is left to wonder what her belly looks like underneath. But most of all, this hardy, well made, lace-luscious suit, which also comes in Champaign and floral print, is forgiving to playtime at the beach. Offering a girl the freedom to play vigorously without the worry of it falling off. And perhaps, a little less gawking and judgment from onlookers as a result.
“It hugged me like a glove and kept my lady lumps securely fastened while waves crashed on me as I tried to strike a pose. This suit holds up!”
Photographer Michael Creagh captured the test drive and the suit prevailed to even make Queens, New York look good. It hugged me like a glove and kept my lady lumps securely fastened while waves crashed on me as I tried to strike a pose. This suit holds up!
