A Very Fashionable Friday at Journelle
On the night of Friday, September 10th, fashionistas and retailers alike celebrated the second year of Fashion’s Night Out in style. Parties and events celebrating FNO’s 2010 edition spanned across the globe to kick off New York Fashion Week. Among the participating retailers was New York’s very own lingerie boutique Journelle.
Over 125 excited shoppers swarmed Journelle at promptly 8 p.m. to mingle, munch on some deliciously fresh hors d’oeuvres, sip a few pink cosmopolitans and, of course, surround themselves with beautiful, fine lingerie.
Those in attendance also got the chance to meet some of the classiest and most fashionable designers in the industry: Arielle Shapiro of Ari Dein, Kristian Giambi of Brulee, and sisters Arin Robinson and Jessie Zinke of Zinke.
When asked if the event was going well, the designers and Journelle owner Claire Chambers could barely hold in their excitement. Shapiro chatted about how well her designs have been doing and stated that one piece from her newest collection (Boutique Hotel Chemise in peacock, $326 retail) will appear in an episode of the CW’s Gossip Girl this season, while Giambi boasted that one of her designs, which recently appeared in an article in the New York Times (the Brulee Vamp Collection Corset Soft bra, $107 retail at Journelle), sold out within days of its arrival at the Journelle location in NYC.
While the mingling visitors shifted from rack to rack, Chambers beamed as she spoke of the success of her recently opened Miami location and also as she discussed the future opening of a new Journelle Soho location.
By the look on everyone’s faces, it is safe to claim FNO at Journelle was a great success and this reporter cannot wait until next year’s festivities.
