An Intimate FNO Recap
by Dana Givens
As you know every year the fashion world takes over the streets of New York September 6th to celebrate the launch of Fashion Week. Designers (and brands) from all walks of life turn their stores into live parties while splurging on their customers with super-saving discounts and cocktails. While the rest of the world focused on ready-to-wear, we made it our mission to look for the stores who were a little more on the intimate side and showcased their love of lingerie. The two stops on our journey were naughty French brand, Agent Provocateur, and our little mecca of high-end lingerie, Journelle.
Our first stop was the Agent Provocateur boutique tucked away on the streets of Soho on the corner of Mercer. Throughout the night the store overflowed with customers sipping on champagne while admiring the new Autumn/Winter 2012 collection. “The customers have been loving the collection,” said manager, Cassie Schumann and could you blame them? We don’t see how you could possibly go wrong with free drinks and walls dripping with exquisite lace. Customers waiting to get into the store were entertained by the company’s live window display of a model sporting a most eye-catching ensemble. The sexy brand didn’t disappoint fans as herds of happy women left with large shopping bags filled with goodies.
Our next stop was only a few steps away at Journelle whose live DJ (DJ Armstrong) was hyping up the crowd while servers handed out tasty hors d’oeuvres and delicious cocktails. The store was celebrating the launch of Stella McCartney’s new basics line made available at all three store locations throughout the city. The collection features a range of beautiful lingerie designs in different colors all at a affordable price point, which surely made shoppers smile in delight as they rummaged through drawers to add new additions to their lingerie wardrobe.
Ready-to-wear may be what Fashion’s Night Out is known for but these two lingerie giants made themselves known to the masses with these festive events and we can only wait in anticipation for next year to see what they’ll surprise us with.
