Avery Rose Slip Dress Review
Lingerie that’s meant to be seen—that’s the mantra of Avery Rose, a lingerie brand known for its use of Swarovski crystal-embellished straps. The brand took the world by storm with their debut bralettes dripping in crystals, quickly outshining other newcomers to the intimate apparel industry. Now expanding and dipping their toes into loungewear, new silk lounge pieces beg to be seen outside of the bedroom as well. Enter the latest addition to the collection, the Avery Rose slip dress.
I’ve been an avid fan of all Avery Rose designs since the label’s inception, so when I had a chance to try the premiere silk slip dress before it was offered to the public I was elated. I love the brand’s sparkly straps so much, and get complimented whenever I wear one of their pieces out. I almost don’t want to tell people about them, they’re my secret weapon in my wardrobe, but this silk dress is too good not to share.
Bias cut silk—there is nothing better in this world. The slinky, body-hugging material transforms any woman into a total bombshell. When I glide into the slip dress it falls smoothly over my curves, the cut of the silk so perfect it never feels tight or like you have to adjust it. Airy, barely-there lightweight silk grazes over the body and hugs every curve in just the right way. I was fearful such lightweight silk would show every lump, bump, or imperfection, but even in white, the dress proved not to be see-through at all. The slip is also offered in classic black silk, so rich it shimmers like the midnight sky. I’m truly in awe of the quality. I’ve owned a lot of silk lingerie but nothing in my life has felt like this.
The cut is body perfection. A simple V-neck slip, this style lets the luxury quality fabric do the talking. The neckline is an ideal balance of showing just enough without being super plunging and showing cleavage. I also REALLY love the fact that it’s cut to cover that dreadful armpit side-boob area we all dislike. Every last detail has clearly been thought of with careful consideration.
The way this slip hugs your body is a triumph of couture-level design. Body skimming, yet not skin tight, the bias cut makes it glide easily over the bust, nip in at your waist, and end with framing your bum just right. Falling just to the knee, the pretty shirttail hem shows a bit of leg at the side slit for understated sex appeal.
The straps. That’s what we’re all here for, right? When I was told I’d be receiving a few new slip dresses I could not wait to see what type of embellished Swarovski straps designer Jennifer Coll came up with this time. She explained to me she designs the beading placement herself in her LA studio, then works with beaders in India to make her vision come to life. The slips come in black and white silk, both with two options for strap details, a delicate strand of clear Swarovski crystals or a wider strap of glitzy gold beading. My personal favorite was the gold, I love Avery Rose’s unabashed, over the top luxury. Who doesn’t want to be dripping in bling, even if it’s on your negligee?
The beauty of this luxe slip is that it can be worn as a dress too! Pair it with heels and a sparkly clutch to match the straps and you’ve got yourself a silk cocktail dress! I’ve seen this trend a lot this summer, even silk slips dressed down a bit over a T-shirt is a playful, feminine look. I can’t wait to style these slip dresses and wear them out to show off the slinky material and sparkly straps. I feel like a million bucks (or the equivalent in crystals?) when I wear this slip dress, why would I hide it from the world?! This is why the design philosophy behind Avery Rose resonates so deeply with me, lingerie is feminine fierce and empowering, it is meant to be seen.
