Bravado Designer Spotlight: Tara Hoth
“…we’re always working super hard to give moms exactly what they want.” – Tara Hoth, Bravado.
Bravado Designs is celebrating 25 years in the industry with newly revamped line of products that boast updated technology and current style trends while still maintaining the true essence of the brand.
Senior Director, Design, Tara Hoth is one of the masterminds that has brought about Bravado’s revamp, putting her technical design background and constant yearning for creative excellence to the ultimate test so far. “When I came here about two years ago, a lot of the processes were just a little bit dated,” she says. “There hadn’t been a whole lot of newness and I just thought, ‘Where’s all the fun print? Where are all the cute colors? How do we really address trend here instead of function?’”
Her mission was clear – to fuse fashion and function into one garment. Two years later, Hoth and her design team have revolutionized the entire Bravado product portfolio, bringing to life a more fashion forward product with cutting edge technology and support.
“Every bra in our collection is basically new, which is so exciting. We have a really cohesive line, and I feel like we have our identity,” she says.
It was especially important for Hoth to see that distinction between Bravado and other brands in the maternity arena. and, for her, this has been achieved. “The biggest part of my vision was just to give Bravado its own feeling,” she adds.
Here are two of the revamped styles that are set to drive the brand to even greater recognition.
The Original Nursing Bra – a classic reborn
According to Hoth this bra is a “cult favorite,” – “that bra that you just can’t live without,” she says. The Original Bra is that style that is synonymous with the name Bravado, making it an obvious choice to update.
“I was looking at this bra with my team and what I was thinking was ‘[that] this is a great bra’,” says Hoth. “How do we make something that may be even better? So with that It was really just about, how can we upgrade the fit experience? How can we upgrade the fabric? How do we upgrade the trim? So not just making a basic bra, but really how do we take that basic and turn it into a must-have? And how do we make mom feel really beautiful and sexy and current?”
The result is a rejuvenated edition of the original style in a limited edition Snow Leopard print in remembrance of the original animal print done over 10 years prior. The updated Original Nursing Bra features a racerback for shoulder comfort, one-handed Bravado ‘B’ nursing clips for easy open and close and full drop away bra cup design for maximum skin-to-skin contact. Additionally, the cotton modal bra has a soft plush underband with branded logo details and a rounded v-neckline that works with all styles of clothing.
Besides the sassy Snow Leopard print, this bra also comes in Black, Dove Heather, and White.
Belle Nursing Bra – A new addition to the family
“Belle was designed for women who don’t want to lose the support of an underwire bra even while nursing.”
Belle is Bravado’s new gorgeous underwire nursing bra in their Petal-Soft™ range which features super soft fabrics. This bra design is intended to rival mom’s pre baby underwire style, maintaining her confidence in her silhouette. Feminine details like a touch of lace and dainty bow make this design chic and desirable.
Belle was designed for women who don’t want to lose the support of an underwire bra even while nursing. Though there are many nursing options in non-underwire styles, Hoth, recognized that many women still expressed the need for a wired bra to feel like themselves. “They need the support,” she says. “They feel like that’s what they’re used to wearing. And without having an underwire in our collection, it was really just leaving a big gap.”
Hoth says the Belle style is best for nursing moms who have established a “nursing rhythm” and who understand what their milk supply looks like. This can ensure that the underwire optimally accommodates the rise and fall in breast volume.
Available in Black, Bare and limited edition Amethyst, Belle’s features convertible criss-cross straps, super soft foam cups with gentle stretch to accommodate mom’s changing shape and a complimentary bra extender. Belle also boasts the one-handed Bravado ‘B’ nursing clips for easy open and close and full drop away bra cup design for maximum skin-to-skin contact.
One of the additions in the new portfolio is rose gold hardware on all bras. Hoth values attention to detail and this small addition, she feels, is what makes a brand standout and makes the customer feel that she is getting value for money. “It was really important that mom gets all these beautiful, delicate pieces of adornment or jewelry on her bra,” she says. “That’s kind of what makes her feel great. And that’s what makes her smile every time she takes the bra out of her drawer.”
“It was just such a labor of love,” she says of the new collection. “I think as soon as the stuff went live online, every single computer in [the] building was locked up to the Bravado website to look at the images.”
It is undeniable that Hoth, herself, is in love with the Bravado brand and wants other moms to share her passion for all the brand has to offer. When it comes to size, fit and style Tara wants moms to feel that Bravado is an inclusive brand, a brand dedicated to catering to their needs. “We take all feedback to heart,” she says, “and we’re always working super hard to give moms exactly what they want.”
When asked what she wanted moms to know about Bravado her answer could be summed up in these words: “We’ve got you covered”.
