Courage Couture Launches in July
Designed by plastic surgeon Sharon T McLaughlin MD FACS, Courage Couture is a new brand debuting this July offering a collection of swimwear and intimates designed for women with uneven breasts or who have had a history of prior surgery including mastectomy with or without reconstruction.
“As a plastic surgeon who has had a mastectomy with reconstruction we know there is a great need for this type of clothing. I wanted to design clothes that looked pretty and provided the necessary coverage but did not look matronly,” said Sharon.
Courage Couture will be sold online at couragecouture.com and launches with two intimate sleepwear styles and swimwear. The brand’s collection is manufactured in New York City.
“This intimate sleepwear covers more of the breasts than what is typically seen with other forms of intimate sleepwear. It also has adjustable cleavage to cover what is needed. The shoulder straps are adjustable as well to allow for better fit,” noted Sharon.
Additionally, Courage Couture’s large and extra large options come with an adjustable back strap for more support. The brand’s styles also offer pockets for a wedge or prosthesis. Accessories such as garter belts and stockings are available on the company’s website.
Courage Coutures first swimwear style is a bikini that offers full cup coverage and support while allowing women to show off their neck, arms and belly. The bikini’s tie allows more cleavage exposure if desired or more coverage to hide scars, breast problems or radiation burns.
Sharon noted that she is looking to offer tops and cocktail dresses in the future.
