Creative Shin Studio Spotlight
“I’m focusing on creating images that enhance desire. The images must of course show the lingerie, but more importantly, I want to elevate the idea of sensuality and femininity into something more sophisticated.” Hyuna Shin, Creative Shin Studio.
Today, we’re excited to share with our readers our intimate Q&A with Fashion Photographer, Hyuna Shin, and a few (gorgeous!) images from her latest photoshoot. We explore her journey into photography, how she started her studio, Creative Shin Studio, and how her creative lens can help lingerie brands stand out in this competitive market.
Creative Shin Studio Q&A with Hyuna Shin
“I believe Lingerie is a very intimate business. It’s close proximity to the body demands a heightened sense of attention to detail…”
Hyuna, we’d love to know how you started your path on becoming a photographer? When did you decide to start your studio? What was the original inspiration?
My photography career is unusual, in that it began later in my life. Previously I had been working in business marketing. However, I always felt this inner desire to explore a more creative path. And this gravitational pull eventually led to photography. I have always loved fashion, and the idea of that glamorous world absolutely seduced me. That’s what eventually led me to become a fashion photographer. Also, I genuinely enjoy interacting and working with people, it’s something I thrive off of. I felt the career choice was complimentary to my innate personality.
What would you say were your biggest obstacles in starting the studio and how did you overcome them?
My studio officially opened six months ago. It was a huge decision to make, and at times my biggest obstacle was my own psyche. I couldn’t help but wonder whether the studio would be a success or not, if business would flow my direction. However, the origin of this newest venture exists on a much deeper level, a personal one. Despite my fears, I know that it’s what I am supposed to be doing. That’s what keeps my focus on point and the motion moving forward. It can be really exciting when I allow myself to imagine the possibilities.
Exploring your site, there are some wonderful images of your studio, could you tell us about the space in which you create?
Creative Shin Studio is located in the heart of New York’s Meatpacking District. What’s great about this location is it’s accessibility and the fact that it has become an upscale shopping destination and home to many high end designers and fashion creatives. I keep the studio meticulously neat and try to cultivate a calm and inviting energy, which must be working because I always get compliments from visitors and clients!
In your desire to work with more lingerie brands, what do you feel your creativity and vision brings to the table?
I believe Lingerie is a very intimate business. It’s close proximity to the body demands a heightened sense of attention to detail: the material, design, and structure of the garments must work together to compliment the body. I’m focusing on creating images that enhance desire. The images must of course show the lingerie, but more importantly, I want to elevate the idea of sensuality and femininity into something more sophisticated.
How do you see Creative Shin Studio helping lingerie brands communicate with their audience?
My photography service will offer a new level of quality to designers that want to bring their brand to the next level. My goal is to express and present lingerie in an exquisite form, providing versatility, as well as confidence to the public.
