CurveNY February 2014 Recap
Bigger and Bolder.
Those are the two words that best sum up the latest edition of CurveNY. With 320 brands and 2,700 visitors, new seminars and a lingerie fashion show rolled into three days, it’s easy to see why Curve’s New York show was one of the biggest in recent years.

A week earlier, the CURVExpo team had just wrapped up another edition of their Vegas show before transitioning to the Jacob Javits center. Luckily, the weather in New York held out and new brands such as 2 Rios Lingerie, Arensky Lingerie, Absolutely Pom, Aima Dora, Ana Grant, Arlotta Home, Blackspade, Bluebella, Cache Coeur, Coquette, Dimanche Lingerie, Dear Bowie, Dollhouse Bettie, L’Agent by Agent Provocateur and Nikol Djumon amongst others made their debut.

Visiting buyers included those from Bloomingdale’s, Bergdorf Goodman, Saks 5th Avenue, Freshpair, Amazon.com, Anthropologie, Azalea, Barenecessities.com, Title 9, ShopBop and Lille Boutique along with other national and worldwide buyers.

“The Curve Shows were fabulous for all of our GOLYTA brands. Buyer reaction to our Tia Lyn full bust fit has been amazing!” said designer, Tia Lyn of her experience at Curve’s NY and Las Vega shows. ”The Tia Lyn brand is designed with the curvy F – H cup customer in mind, so it is the perfect lingerie for bra fitting boutiques.”

The highlight of the three day show was the debut of Curve’s Fashion Night “IN” – a lingerie runway show showcasing pieces from FW14/15 collections by the industry’s top brands. Visitors enjoyed drinks and an evening of close to 200 looks. It was an excellent and wonderfully produced show that added excitement and movement for visiting buyers, press and guests.

As always, Curve held a few seminars for visiting buyers including a new edition – 7 Steps to Boost Your Lingerie Business hosted by Ali Cudby which Curve organizers said drew in a sizable audience.

“Our get-together breakfast was also a success where new boutiques and retailers interact with the brands before their appointments on the show floor. The Eveden Fitting seminar and workshop remain very popular as well as the Trends Seminar that gives precious seasonal directions to buyers stocking up on the Fall-Winter 2014 collections,” added a Curve rep.
In addition, a Trend Wall placed at the entrance of the show and commented on a daily basis by trend specialist Maria Teresa Sampedro of Promostyl gave buyers a new opportunity for a more customized trend experience.

On the subject of Trends, earlier this month, writer Jackie Seabrooke and photographer Nomi Ellenson put together an excellent lingerie trend report from their visit to CurveNY. You can read that feature HERE.

There was a lot to lust over for at the show including some wonderful bodysuits from a variety of brands like Intensify Me and Sokoloff Lingerie. Brands like Claudette also keep Neon in trend with a new collection of intimates from their AW14 collection.
