Curvy Kate’s Star in the Bra Competition US Launch
After five successful competitions in the UK and Australia, D plus specialists Curvy Kate are gearing up to launch the Star in a Bra competition in America. Launching in April the brand will scour the nation for a naturally curvy, real woman who will become the US face and body of the brand. The winner will be flown to the UK to take part in Curvy Kate marketing campaigns with fellow UK and Australian winners.
After a fantastic response from the UK market, American fans of the brand have been crying out for the competition to open stateside. With over 15,000 fans on the UK Facebook page, 1700 of these are US fans who are already well on board with Curvy Kate’s championing of real curves.
The contest run through the brand’s new Facebook page (www.facebook.com/curvykateusa), will encourage ‘fans’ of the brand’s new USA page to upload images of themselves in their lingerie to enter. A shortlist of 30 will be drawn up and the finalists face a public vote as fans chose their favourite natural D plus woman.
Curvy Kate launched in America in August 2011 and is already sold with over 50 stores across the country, including online giant Bare Necessities. The brand is looking to build on this success and captivate American women with their ‘Feel Good’ philosophies and the Star in a Bra competition is the perfect tool for this.
Although the American average breast size is now above a D cup and the average dress size a 14 or larger, many fashion brands still lack in choosing models that relate to these statistics. Many choosing a model who is on average 23% lighter than the typical US woman. Going against the grain, Curvy Kate will put the American public in the spotlight to choose who they would like to see modelling the latest range of lingerie.

For the US competition the brand will be working closely with their retailers and offering tiered sponsorship levels. Bare Necessities have taken Gold sponsorship but other spots are still available.
