Dottie’s Delights SS14
“We stumbled upon the Richards House on a recent weekend adventure…and I fell in love immediately. Clawfoot tubs and working fireplaces in every room, how could you not be smitten?” – Stephanie Kuhr.
Comparisons between lingerie and architecture abound in our industry, but it is very rare to find a collection inspired by a specific structure. Designer Stephanie Kuhr of Dottie’s Delights found her muse for her latest collection in the form of a house built in 1883 — The Richards House.
The SS14 collection is inspired by the Stick Style Queen Anne house taking aesthetic cues from the decor to all the textures found throughout the historical home. In addition to finding inspiration, Kuhr has become an expert on the site:
“[The Richards House] stayed in the Richards family for over 100 years and much of the original decor is still in place including chandeliers, embossed wall covers, intricate woodworking and themed fireplaces and over 80 stained glass windows. Even down to the library with hand written dedications inside each book spanning the 1900’s through WWII,” said Kuhr. “We were very fortunate to be able to use this location for our campaign shoot, and I built the collection around imaging the generations of socialites that grew up within this house.”

Kuhr said she found the Richards House by accident on a weekend road trip.
“We ended up poking around Dubuque, Iowa where we found the house had been converted into a bed & breakfast and I fell in love immediately,” she said. “Clawfoot tubs and working fireplaces in every room, how could you not be smitten?”
Since that first encounter, Stephanie is now ready to showcase the new collection to buyers at the upcoming Lingerie Collective NYC Show taking place August 4th – 6th, 2013 at 320 Studios (320 West 37th St 14th Floor) — a ten minute walk from Jacob Javits.
Buyers will also be treated to new additions to Dottie’s Delights for SS14 such as slips and nightgowns, a soft bralette, and improved panty styles as well as intricately detailed re-fabrications of the brand’s classic styles.
“I’m also pleased to be bringing in authentic vintage deadstock elements as well as new American-made lace into the collection, reinforcing our commitment to offering truly unique pieces and supporting Made in US industries,” said Kuhr.
