Duchess Lingerie Celebrates One Year Anniversary

The ideas and inspiration to start your own boutique, online shop or home party business are as varied as the wonderful brands out there, but there’s one thing we can all share and revel in – celebrating a milestone in business.

The Duchess Lingerie, an elegant and quirky boutique in the trendy inner-city suburb of Surry Hills in Sydney, Australia recently achieved a huge milestone by celebrating its first anniversary. Congratulations!

Inspiration

Owner, July Cooper spotted a huge gap in the lingerie market – Sydney has surprisingly few boutiques catering for lovers of all things frilly and fabulous – and decided to give Sydney women the option to buy beautiful lingerie in a friendly and informal, but luxurious environment.

Originally hailing from London, where options to buy underwear are seemingly endless, July could not believe the lack of choice in such a sunny and spirited city. So two years ago she decided to up-sticks and move to the other side of the world to make her dream of opening her own lingerie boutique a reality.

July chose Surry Hills as it is close to the city and attracts a high footfall of pedestrians lured by the eclectic shops and the ever expanding number of cool bars and restaurants.

It is also a destination for vintage shoppers and as The Duchess Lingerie specialises in vintage-inspired underwear, July knew it was the perfect location for her boutique.

What’s inside

The Duchess Lingerie’s collection is classy, elegant and sexy, with a nod to vintage, and July’s main aim is to bring in largely unknown labels from the UK and Europe, alongside more local designers. All brands featured are mid-to-high end, with quality fabrics and attention to detail.

Current brands stocked include Fleur of England, Mimi Holliday and Playful Promises, all from the UK, along with Little Minx, Cilla & Pepe sleepwear, newly-launched Daughter of the Gods swimwear and Lisa Kelly swimwear which are all by Australian designers.

The boutique is high-end, but with a welcoming and intimate feel, and customers are always pleasantly surprised by their prices.

The Duchess’ resident mannequin D’Arcy stands prominently in the doorway beckoning people in, and has attracted quite a following in the community, some say she is the most beautiful mannequin they have ever seen!

And, July, from all of us here at TLJ: Congratulations and continued Success!!
