Fuller Cup Brand Curvy Kate Reports 400 Percent Growth

New plus size lingerie brand Curvy Kate has announced sales growth of 400% in their second year of trading.  The London-based company, launched in 2009, specializes in bras for the fuller bust with sizes from D to K cups. The focus is on a great fit in fashionable styles, aimed at the 18 – 34 year old market.

The initial response to Curvy Kate was “remarkable as within their first 6 months of trading over 100 stores had stocked the collections in the UK.  Curvy Kate now has over 500 stockists worldwide, with distribution in 10 countries including Australia, France, Canada, Germany and Greece,” said the company.

Managing Director Steve Hudson comments “We have been overwhelmed by the response to the brand. It seems we are offering the right product at the right time, despite the economic climate.  It has been an busy and hectic two years for everyone involved in the business but none-the-less an extremely rewarding start.”

The company noted that it has been widely reported that the female bust is growing, with the national average cup size having increased over the last two decades from 34B to 36E. 

However Hudson emphasises that creating big bras is not a simple task.  “Fuller busted women have very different requirements from a bra.  We spent 3 years before our launch developing the bras and constantly improving the design to achieve the best possible fit. Whilst we have created a fun and fashionable look it has taken a lot of effort to ensure we give great shape and support, right up to a K cup.”

The company has ambitious growth plans, including the development of their non-transactional website, CRM system and social media strategy. They are also targeting other overseas markets including Russia and the USA, with the addition of a swimwear collection for Spring/Summer 2012. 

“We are looking to build on our initial success to create a strong business and a global brand.  These are challenging times but we see huge potential and intend to ensure Curvy Kate becomes a must-have lingerie brand for all fuller busted women.”

Curvy Kate bras are available in over 100 different size SKU’s, with sizes extending from D to K cups and back sizes from 28-44” for Autumn/Winter 2011. Bras retail from £27.50 to £29.
