Active lives require active wardrobes. While the Euro 2016 Soccer Final took place in Paris, Mode City and Interfilière celebrated fashion — and sport — in Lyon last weekend. Fabric suppliers and designers have never been more in sync, combining aesthetics and technical qualities to create stylish, performance-based activewear for women of all sizes, shapes, and fitness levels.

Luli Fama is an American brand founded in 2003 by Lourdes Hanimian and her brother-in-law Augusto Hanimian. Nicknamed Luli, Lourdes was born in Cuba and raised in Miami. Her Latin roots and love for the beach have created an ultra-feminine, ultra-sophisticated brand worn by celebrities such as Beyoncé, Shakira, and Kate Hudson, along with supermodels, including Miranda Kerr, and Bar Rafaeli.

Worn day and night, on the beach or in the bar, the brand’s eclectic and cosmopolitan collections celebrate sensuality, showcasing curves and contours. Luxury fabrics and embellishments mixed with exclusive prints in floral, aquatic, tribal, and tie-dye themes are guaranteed to make a splash at every watering hole.

SPORTIV’ Concept Store
More than a nudge, the invigorating sport trend encourages us all to get out there and move —in style — uniting fashion, wellbeing and performance for serious athletes, regular exercisers, and beginners alike. Leading the way is a dedicated textile industry committed to innovation, which includes Smart Textiles, new fibers and fabrics that are increasingly bio-based, stronger, and more comfortable.

The SPORTIV’ concept store combined fashion, wellbeing, and sport for modern, active women. Merchandize included, sports bras and leggings, fitness accessories to monitor exercise, and consumer education addressed nutrition needs and concerns. Compression apparel has successfully crossed over from the medical field and offers strong support along with other beneficial effects such as improved circulation and reducing build-up of lactic acid (which causes cramps). Lingerie and swimwear retailers are a natural go-to resource for this expanding sector and for women looking for attractive and technically sophisticated activewear.

In 1946 the two-piece bathing suit made its first public appearance at the Molitar swimming pool in Paris. To celebrate the Bikini’s 70th birthday, Ghislaine Rayer and Patrice Gaulupeau, collectors and authors of “Bikini: La Légende” published by Robert Laflon, opened an exhibition featuring selected pieces from their private collection, Nuits de Satin. This unprecedented collaboration with Mode City invites visitors to trace the evolution of the bikini and see how this iconic fashion remains as modern and stylish today. The exhibition is open to the public with free admission until July 24th at La Sucrière in Lyon.

What do women want? Style and comfort from morning to night. More than ever, lingerie codes, fabrics, designs, and shapes are the preferred dress code for modern women. Presented at Interfilière as a Pop-Up store, “La Maison de Tina — Tina’s House” showcased Opulent Livingwear by Tina Wilson, designer based in NYC. Extravagant fabrics in easy-to-wear styles and luxury accents and details transformed the ordinary to extraordinary. Today’s style is created through sensual fabrics. Women are choosing to live and express themselves through an enhanced aesthetic, liberating and transforming how they perceive, feel, and move through their quotidian.

Creating original and inspiring designs for more than 140 years, this year marked the first time Liberty Fabrics brought its rich heritage to Interfilière. Based in London, the design studio works with artists, illustrators, architects and writers to create more than 120 new prints annually. “Seaside Splendour” is a collection of nostalgic designs showcasing the white sands, aquamarine sea, and vibrant beach huts dotting Britain’s iconic coastlines.
