Lingerie Designer Showcase Celebrates Successful Inaugural Show
The inaugural edition of the Lingerie Journal’s Designer Showcase wrapped up in early August and the show’s organizer, Luis Paredes, said “that it was a huge success” and announced the second edition to launch in 2012.
“Creating the Lingerie Designer Showcase will stand, in my opinion, as one of best things we could have done for the lingerie industry,” said Paredes. “Our goal was to create an intimate environment for lingerie designers to meet with buyers, show off their creations, develop a relationship and do business. I feel like we succeeded in all of those areas.”

“What’s good about this show is that the venue is a small intimate setting. I’m comfortable, the buyers are comfortable and that makes a huge difference,” said Masako Shirokawa of Ombrato. “Luis and his team also work really hard at attracting buyers, retailers and press. So in addition to my own work letting buyers know that I’m here, the Lingerie Journal does their own work to build a response and I’ve been really happy with the results.”
Paredes also noted that what made the Lingerie Designer Showcase stand apart was that each exhibitor also received their own private space to showcase their collections. With over 650 square feet of room, exhibitors were able to turn their space into a showroom.
“The buyers have been really excited to come in, take a load off and have a chance to talk in an intimate setting without distractions,” noted Clare Herron, the designer behind Clare Bare Lingerie. “So, as a young designer, its been good for me to get the attention I might not get somewhere else because I’m the only designer in this room.”
Buyers visiting the show also noticed the difference, said Paredes.
“It was a wonderful show,” said Brian Terry of the online boutique, GiseleLima.com. “Beautiful and unique products, we loved all the designers, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience.”
Luna Logo, owner of the online boutique, mylunakiss.com added, “I think this is wonderful. It’s great that designers get a chance to meet with buyers in this intimate setting. A lot of convention shows that you go to you don’t get a chance to do that and I think it’s great they get one-on-one time with each other.”
Paredes said that the formal announcement for the next edition of the Lingerie Designer Showcase will happen on the show’s site, lingeriedesignershowcase.com within the next few weeks and added, “And obviously, for more Lingerie News, you can also visit the Lingerie Journal.”
