Tucked away near rising luxury skyscrapers in New York City, a sun lit loft housed some of the most intriguing lingerie designs. This is where I found the Fall Preview Show presented by the Lingerie Selection (TLS). The event featured 12 lingerie brands, with designs ranging from lingerie as outerwear, to bondage, to swim, and everything in-between.
Each brand had something different to offer to the boutique buyers and lingerie enthusiasts perusing the racks. However, the common denominator amongst them all was the amount of hands-on-work put into the product by the creators, who also served as the sales people for their brands.
The Lingerie Selection show allowed buyers to receive an up close and personal view of the brands and what the brand intent is directly from the mouths of the ones who created them. When asked why it was important to have a showcase like this, TLS co-creator (and designer for The Giving Bride), Maggie Gillette said, “The Lingerie Selection provides up and coming designers a place to launch and grow their businesses and simultaneously we provide boutiques a chance to discover unique, fashion forward brands that can help set their business apart.”

This seasons preview was the largest in the six season run of the show and housed local brands The Giving Bride, Navaeh Intimates, Loulette Lingerie, Suzy Black, Summer Wildes, and Colette and Sebastian. The show also brought in the some national and international brands including Lalita (Los Angeles), Harlow and Fox (England), Yes Master (England), Diana Mi (Italy), Sapph (Holland), and Sandra Silk Australia (Australia). The show was also sponsored by Soak Wash of Canada.

With such a diverse platform of brands it’s safe to say that The Lingerie Selection definitely hit it’s intended mission of giving boutiques a chance to find unique brands that will make customers want to shop with them for exclusivity.
Another common thread I found as I went through each rack is how well made all of these products were, the amount of detailing put into the designs, and the quality of the fabrications used were superior. Definitely a delight to see that so much emphasis had been placed on making sure the product was actually worth the cost, and something boutiques could offer as great selling points to customers who would be hearing of the brands for the first time.

“I think my favorite part was seeing the brands, especially some who were debuting in the US for the first time, make connections with some of the best lingerie boutiques in the country.”, explained Maggie.
