Lola Haze New Spring/Summer 2011 Collection
New-York based lingerie and loungewear brand Lola Haze recently introduced its Spring/Summer 2011 collection at CURVExpo.
The collection is entitled “Cancan Now!”
Lola Haze designer Laura Mehlinger captures the lightness of spring air and the electricity of summer heat. She was inspired by aspects of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec’s art and the surrounding culture of fin de siecle Montmartre.
She says, “I love the expressive force of how he captured movement and silhouette. There’s a mood of joy and a larger-than-life quality in his paintings, even as they verge on decadence and satire.”
Mehlinger referred to specific fashion details of the era, like the shocking underlining in cancan skirts, which she reinterpreted in a modern way in the Cancan Chemise. But the collection is a look forward, not backward. It is a celebration of the modern woman, cancanning her way through Spring and Summer 2011, full of beauty, play, and vitality.
The ethereal In Flight Group, consisting of the In Flight Chemise, In Flight Cami and Short, Air Bubble Chemise, Feather Romper, and Feather Slip, is full of crème, lilac and peach silks, with hand-painted feather brooches adorning them.
Balancing these light-as-air pieces are luxe, body-conscious chemises, rompers, teddies, and sets in silk, cotton, and stretch lace with pops of Shocking Pink, Chartreuse, and Bright Purple. On the silk Electric Zip Slip, a cleverly placed purple zipper reveals a hint of skin underneath. On the Gift Me Slip, a silk sash wraps the woman like an elegant gift.
In this collection, Mehlinger continues her focus on individually hand crafted artisanal details, like the handmade Painted Feather Tee in which feathers were outlined in a spray-graffiti style, and the Painted Legs Dress in which she continues her collaboration with artist Charlotte Pinson.
This collection focuses on best-selling silhouettes like camis, panties, and chemises, alongside trending bodies like teddies, rompers and oversize tees. Signature Collection favorites such as the Whisper Slip and Cami/Cross Hipster continue to be available year-round. This Spring 2011 collection is designed to be merchandised alongside Lola Haze’s newly introduced Holiday 2010/2011 capsule, “Backstage, After” which will hit stores for the high-demand holiday and Valentine’s seasons.
