What did Sleeping Beauty dream about?
That’s the question sleepwear designer Courtney Kates asked herself as she set out to design Maison Du Soir’s SS14 collection. To find inspiration, she stepped into a fairy tale world filled with the wonders of nature, the enchantment of sleep and vivid, dream-like imagery.

A whimsical and refreshing collection (and lookbook) that takes inspiration from vintage and classical sources but stays true to the brand’s modern aesthetic and adds what Courtney describes as “that touch of edginess that makes Maison Du Soir different from other sleepwear lines.”

One of the most striking looks is Maison Du Soir’s Clover Tank and Grace Short featuring Courtney’s Constellation Print which was inspired by an actual vintage map of the stars.
For our readers new to the brand, Maison Du Soir, French for “House Of Evening” is a newly launched independent line of premium sleepwear by designer and founder, Courtney Kates.

“The collection echoes designer daywear style and aesthetic, attempting to change our perception that sleepwear has to be boxy and frumpy in order to be comfortable,” says Courtney.
Maison Du Soir features slimmer, more flattering silhouettes, fine silks and soft knits, and the feather weight pieces can be mixed and matched as well as worn out of the house.

“[Maison Du Soir] is an up and coming line with incredible potential, looking to capture a significant, unoccupied space in the sleepwear market.” – Courtney Kates.
The brand’s target customer is the fashion conscious, independent woman who values fashion alongside comfort. The collection captures a multitude of aesthetics.

“There are classic and conservative styles as well as sexier, more flirty pieces,” notes Courtney. “The fashion forward knits are a completely new perspective in comparison to traditional sleepwear but again, have the ability to appeal to a wide range of customers. The knit selection of the line has achieved great success thus far and is slated to expand to triple it’s current size in future seasons…evolving the collection to appeal to fashionable moms who want to look and feel beautiful and sophisticated but desperately need the ease of a washing machine and durable fabrications!”
