“This incredible, innovative collection is going to help so many women undergoing radiation treatment and we’re so thrilled to be a part of it.” – Dana Donofree, AnaOno Intimates.

AnaOno Intimates, a line of lingerie and loungewear designed for breast cancer survivors, by a breast cancer survivor, recently announced their collaboration with leading Radiation Oncologist Katie Deming, MD with the launch of The MAKEMERRY Collection by AnaOno.

This first of its kind collection is effectively revolutionizing undergarments for women undergoing and recovering from radiation treatment, who otherwise have limited to no choices to turn to. The line will debut with two pieces, a MAKEMERRY Wire-free Pocketed Plunge Bra ($58.00, sizing XS-L) and patented MAKEMERRY Pocketed External Shelf Bra Camisole ($64.00, sizing XS-XXL), available beginning late April 2016 at www.anaono.com.

Filling a long-standing void in the market, Portland-based Dr. Deming created The MAKEMERRY Collection to meet the specific needs of her patients’ sensitive skin. “When I started this journey, I didn’t know anything about apparel manufacturing. But, I realised that I understood the problem better than anyone else and that I needed to try to solve it for my patients.” Dr. Deming says. After prototyping and wear testing was completed Dr. Deming realized she needed a partner in the apparel industry to bring products to market. When a patient mentioned AnaOno and Donofree’s own cancer journey, Dr. Deming reached out immediately.

“As a physician, I want my patients to have products that are designed for their specific needs but are not a constant reminder of the medical treatments they are undergoing. Some think medical garments are functional only and don’t need to look pretty – I don’t buy into that. I want my patients to feel like they are buying a beautiful bra or camisole just like they would before the diagnosis. The perfect partner for this apparel line, Dana and I are completely aligned in our vision to create pieces that make women feel beautiful while meeting their needs. – Dr. Katie Deming, MD

The result? Two luxurious, soothing undergarments designed to provide light support as well as alleviate the uncomfortable skin irritation caused by radiation (most recently witnessed worldwide when Jenn Atler published a viral photograph of her radiated breast on social media this past Fall: http://tinyurl.com/o5naksr). Every detail and every point of contact with the skin has been taken into consideration with the MAKEMERRY Collection by AnaOno Pocketed Wire-free Plunge Bra and Pocketed External Shelf Bra Camisole, fabricated from soothing, environmentally friendly Lending Modal.

Each non-wire piece further features hidden seams, adjustable straps, built-in pockets between fabric layers for modesty pads or lightweight prostheses, and deep-cut underarms to avoid rubbing against the sensitive arm area. The patented Camisole further features a revolutionary design in which a shelf bra is located on the exterior of the garment to provide support, while preventing direct contact with the skin which could otherwise further irritate or ride up under breasts. In addition to women undergoing radiation therapy, these pieces are the perfect solution for any woman with extremely sensitive skin as well.

“This incredible, innovative collection is going to help so many women undergoing radiation treatment and we’re so thrilled to be a part of it. The collaboration is a perfect partnership to increase outreach and lend credence to our mission and designs, as well. AnaOno is always committed and happy to help women throughout their cancer journey and beyond.” said Dana Donofree, Founder & CEO, AnaOno Intimates.
