Mari M Lingerie FW20: Soft Indulgence

Mari M Lingerie FW20: Soft Indulgence

Brazilian brand Mari M Lingerie’s FW20 collection has me dreaming of blissful comfort. Scrolling through the lookbook, I’m picturing a lazy Sunday – it’s past noon and I’m chilling on the veranda, still wearing my pajamas. Or maybe I’m pampering myself with a face mask, dressed in their floor length, floral robe.

There’s something intensely cozy about this sleep and lounge collection, but at the same time, it feels wonderfully light and airy. It’s easy to picture these garments still being a part of your regular wardrobe come springtime. Everything has a slightly loose, draped fit to it, and besides a smattering of darker colors, the tones are kept mostly muted – pale grey, snowy white, dusty pink, and a lovely beige. Sheer white lace trims many of the pieces, adding a delicate touch.

Mari M has been around for over two decades, and therefore knows its customer very well. A spokesperson for the brand, Amanda Hackmann, told me that they design for “women who value the comfort, quality and luxury in their pieces.” Many of the fabrics are made from natural fibers such as silk and cotton, and the designs are stylish in a way that’s timeless rather than overtly trendy.

Fall Prints and Patterns

The Fall/Winter 2020 collection includes a variety of loungewear options. “Pajamas and nightgowns are the principal of Mari M Lingerie,” Amanda says, but there are also short slips, long slips, robes, and even a poncho. Nursing mothers are included too – lace-adorned nightgowns, available in pink or navy, provide a chic and comfy outfit for at-home breastfeeding.

Mari M is betting on their printed pajamas as the season’s bestsellers, and I can definitely see why. One set features a leafy, botanical illustration type print on a clean white background. The other, a gorgeous collection of oversized florals over a maroon backdrop, and trimmed with contrasting leopard print. The brand predicts that mixed prints will be a popular lingerie trend in 2020.

Both of these prints are also available on matching garments such as slips and robes – it’s the full-length robe, in the darker floral and leopard print, that is my personal favorite from the whole collection. That’s a statement piece for sure!

Soft and Subtle

Besides the printed looks, I’m also very drawn to the block-colored navy and beige pajama sets. The knit fabric looks supremely soft, but with an extra wide band of scalloped, swirly lace around the hips, these practical pajamas also feel a little glam. The same could be said for the long-sleeved, floor-length nightgowns that are made primarily from stretch jersey, but with lace necklines and a deep V lace insert at the back.

Another stand-out piece of the Fall/Winter 2020 collection is a short white slip, which has an organically-shaped satin front panel appliquéd onto floral lace. Designed as part of Mari M’s bridal offering, it would make a luxurious and elegant addition to any honeymoon trousseau.
