Spring-like weather, leather and lace treated visitors to last month’s inaugural New International Lingerie Show (NILS) at the Westgate Hotel in Las Vegas.
Forty five exhibitors (56 counting distributors’ brands) showed off lingerie, accessories, bridal, hosiery and menswear over the three day trade event.

“Launching a ‘new’ show is never easy, however, I feel Chad, Roland & Tim did a great job.” – Mary Zoe Gorghuber, Wilderness Dreams.
While foot traffic was lighter than previous editions of the International Lingerie Show (ILS), many companies reported good business.

“I was impressed with the first show,” said Christine Grieco of Eurotique. “We went in hoping that they would do well and we picked up a few new accounts.”
Some exhibitors and visiting buyers also noted the smaller scale of NILS. However, as a new trade show, it’s normal to see fewer exhibitors than at previous editions of the International Lingerie Show (ILS).

That show, according to its founder, Jeff Yunis, debuted in 1996 at the Tropicana with 50 exhibitors. In just a few years, ILS averaged 200 exhibitors and 800 visiting buyers.
“We were fully aware going into the show there would be a small number of exhibitors,” said Mary Zoe Gorghuber of Wilderness Dreams. “In my opinion that is not a deterrent. Instead it provides more time to meet existing and potential buyers.”
To help increase traffic and attendance, NILS plans on continuing its Meet & Greet event that was held at the theater-like Westgate Cabaret and adding more buyer-centric events. NILS’ Show Director, Chad Timney, hinted that ILS’ beloved runway show could return in the near future to the West Gate Cabaret theater.
Some of the exhibitors also expressed some ideas on how the show could improve the experience for buyers and brands.
Tim Gettler of Glamory Hosiery suggested that for the next edition, the show organizers display the NILS logo on the large banner at the entrance in order to draw in visitors walking by from concurrent shows like ASD.
At the close of last month’s show, NILS’ Tim McNamara said, “This is really Day 1 of the New International Lingerie Show. It’s a whole new chapter. We have a lot planned that our exhibitors and buyers are going to love.”
One of the exhibitors already signaling their return is Just to Flirt. The brand’s Jazmin Brito said, “We’ll definitely do [NILS] again. We saw an increase in our sales and new clients.”
