Parfait AW18 Lingerie Review
I discovered Parfait about six years ago, thanks to their famous Charlotte bra, which was my introduction to this lingerie brand. I wasn’t aware at the time that Nicki Minaj herself had fallen for this set but I can totally understand why.
Parfait creates beautiful and comfortable lingerie that can speak to a very wide range of age and aesthetic preferences. So, of course, being offered the possibility to try their new AW18 collection, I couldn’t say no. The brand generously sent me three of their new styles – Cora, Lulu and Dalis – in size UK 32G and Small and here are my thoughts on them:
As the bralette popularity increases, more brands are working on creating reliable and supportive bralettes for fuller busts customers. That being said, I was still surprised to discover in my package the sweet Dalis set. This set literally screams “comfy.” I immediately had to try it on. Made of modal and spandex it is very soft to the touch and one of the most supportive bralettes I have tried so far. The material feels strong but just as flexible as it should. Aesthetically, Dalis is an adorable navy set adorned with matching lace along the straps and even at the back. A piece of lace at the middle of the bralette gives a plunging illusion. This definitely makes this garment sexier if you can forget its legitimate cuteness.
Dalis’ construction is very interesting and efficient. I am particularly impressed by the wide under bust band that doesn’t roll or move through the day. It really plays the role of a bra band and the presence of side boning is certainly helping. The back of the bralette features three sets of four hooks and eyes, which guarantee a secure fit. Another great thing about this bralette is the racer back option. I love how racer back can uplift breasts in sports bras and although Dalis provides a great shape by itself, it is a nice addition to the design.
The cups contain my breasts perfectly without flattening them. In my opinion, this piece is true to size, if not a bit small in the band. I have worn this bralette outside of the house and didn’t feel any urge to put on a wired bra for the whole day.
That being said, I personally wouldn’t wear it with very fitted clothes as it does make my breasts look wider than my usual bras. I wear this bralette under thick sweater dresses as it doesn’t make a big difference with this type of clothing. I have been wearing it quite often since I received it and it’s definitely a new favorite for lounging around the house.
The hipster brief is also very comfortable, though it gives me minor muffin tops around the hips. I always prefer a smoother fit but surprisingly, this brief still works very well under jeans. It doesn’t cut into my bum so I don’t fear major VPL and is actually rather flattering from the back. I do wonder if a size bigger would fit me better but I believe I am in between a Small and a Medium in Parfait briefs.
This set is available in size 30-40, D-G, with the coordinates in size S to 3XL.
I have to say it right away: I am a longline fan. If there is a bra style I am always happy to buy, it is really the longline. And Cora is a very pretty one actually. The colorway Bare might not be the best for my skin tone but I think it is still a nice and easy to wear peach-beige. This bra has a lovely Marie-Antoinette feel to it.
Cora is an unpadded, three-parts full cup bras. The cups are made from a stretchy floral lace and lined with beige mesh. Along the satin covered wires, the microfiber support slings crossover accentuates the feminine look of this bra.
Fit-wise, I think this bra feels more like a 28H than a 32G. The band feels way tighter than the other Parfait bras I have tried in this size. I usually wear a 30GG, very occasionally a 28H so the band is still comfortable for me.
The cups are deep and since my breasts are a bit shallow, the smaller one does not fill the cup. It would have been interesting to try a 32FF. However, if you have very full on top breasts, you should probably stick with your usual cup volume and size up in the band.
The wires are a bit wide for my morphology but don’t dig into my ribcage or sternum. Overall, this bra is quite comfortable. I suspect that a 32FF would fix some fit issues but this is still a great bra. The band is made from strong power net and should hold its shape for a long time. The straps are fully adjustable and well situated on my shoulders.
The coordinate is a low rise brief made of lace and matching microfibre. I find the size Small to be a bit tight on my hips, just like the Dalis hispter brief. However the back coverage is definitely sufficient for my taste. While, this isn’t an uncomfortable brief per se, I wish the elastics didn’t cut in and create VPL under jeans. I would recommend to size up in this particular style. The Dalis set is available in size 32-44, D-G, with the coordinate in size S to 3XL.
The Lulu set
The last item I received was the Lulu babydoll in the Grape colorway. Aesthetically, this piece is rather feminine. This shade of purple could certainly work for a lot of different skin tones. The cup and center of the piece are embellished with a silver embroidery which adds some texture to the ensemble.
The basis of this design is a three-parts full cup bras. A mesh skirt has been sewn to the band to create a supportive babydoll. You can actually find a bra and coordinate version of Lulu. Unfortunately, this piece runs bigger than the other sets I have tried from Parfait. Although I received a 32G, I think a 32F would be more appropriate for me as both my bigger and smaller breasts are way too small for these cups. I also found the band to run bigger. This one is a true-to-size 32 band but on the looser side. Since this garment is made to lounge around or sleep, a loose band isn’t really problematic in my opinion, but take it in consideration if you consider sister sizing.
I received the matching G-string in a little black pouch. This coordinate is made of stretchy purple mesh and features a non-cotton gusset. It is a simple design, and it feels like a bedroom accessory more than something I would wear on a daily basis. The tagged said S-XL, and I am guessing if it is a one size-fits-all type of thong. It does fit me perfectly and doesn’t cut in or get uncomfortable. Note that if G-strings aren’t an option for you, the brand also offers a hipster brief as a coordinate in the same collection.
From what I experienced with this babydoll, it seems to provide a round shape and a great support despite being too big. However, since it doesn’t fit me properly, I can’t really judge the fit with objectivity. Now, I like that this garment is light and could easily be worn under a dress. The material feels like air against the skin and the transparency really gives a playful touch to this set. The Lulu babydoll is available in size 32-40, D-G, with the coordinates in size S-XL.
