I recently had the pleasure of teaming up with one of my favorite luxury lingerie designer of all time, Jane Woolrich. I attended a Masquerade Ball at the Los Angeles Theater in Downtown Los Angeles for the screening of the movie Labyrinth with David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly.
For the occasion I wanted to create a unique look that emulated Old-Hollywood and my passion for luxury lingerie worn as outerwear. When I think about showstopper red carpet moments that have inspired me in the past, Halle Berry and Jennifer Lopez are the two queens that come to my mind. I always love how their looks are never overdone, they look feminine and their stylists are able to dress them in styles and colors that complement both their skin tone and body type. With that in mind, I wanted to find my own look and style it my own way.
I fell in love with the Mermaid Style Nightdress, which is 1930s inspired design in silk satin, with a bias cut and silk chiffon godets. The back featured a mesh panel edged with Chantilly leavers lace in a beautiful bow design. The straps were adjustable and the gown was custom made to my measurements.
I chose the copper color as I knew it would be my true nude and it matched the location so perfectly. I have worn variations of copper several times before for photoshoots, but this gown is my all time favorite copper look. The quintessence of luxury and old-Hollywood.
We discussed measurements, color choices well in advance with Jane’s team and it was hard for me to make a choice in the sea of luscious designs and options available to me. My idea was to collaborate on a design that would be part of my life forever, almost like an Heirloom piece. And this Mermaid Style dress will be in my closet forever.

For this look I also chopped off my hair for the occasion into a shorter bob. It happened the night of the event and I am so glad I did it as I thought it was the perfect hair length to contrast this long gown. I was inspired by Louise Brooks and Coco Chanel, but again I put my own spin.

A massive thank you to the entire team from Jane Woolrich, this look was for the books.
