The breast cancer awareness organization PinkChoseMe Foundation hosted a successful BREAST RECONSTRUCTION AWARENESS (BRA) Day USA 2012, an awareness and fundraising celebration, this past October 17th, 2012.

The Lingerie Alliance was one of the sponsors of this event which attracted over 200 guests.

Tiffany Jones, Founder and President of PinkChoseMe Foundation, worked with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Plastic Surgery Foundation to bring BRA Day USA 2012 to New York City for the very first time.

This year nearly 227,000 U.S. women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Research has found that nearly 7 out of 10 women are unaware of their breast reconstruction options at the time of their breast cancer diagnosis, a number that is more pronounced among minority and uninsured women.

These numbers exist in spite of federal and state laws that require health insurers (including Medicaid and Medicare) to cover breast reconstruction procedures along with a number of state laws promoting a team approach to breast cancer that ensure a plastic surgeon is consulted prior to surgical mastectomy.

PinkChoseMe is committed to closing this loop. It is in that vein that the American Society of Plastic Surgeons in collaboration with The Plastic Surgery Foundation launched a two year public awareness campaign that seeks to increase the number of women who are informed of their surgical reconstruction options at the time of their diagnosis and prior to mastectomy.

In addition, special honored guests were presented with awards for their dedication and commitment to PinkChoseMe Foundation and the first ever BRA Day USA.

This unique awareness and fundraising event and held at the upscale Martin Lawrence Gallery in New York’s famed downtown neighborhood, SoHo.
