Product Review: Fashionably Festive in Foxy Lingerie
“R ing in the holidays in something sexy!” boasts e-commerce lingerie giant Foxy Lingerie. Owner Bill Rowell curated quite the naughty and nice lists, with an extensive collection of lingerie offerings in sultry Santa reds and sparkly new year’s golds. The stand -out collections come from Mapale, a Miami based brand known for sophisticated, fashion-forward designs. Bill confirmed, “our customers rave about these styles and many come back to purchase new designs as they come out season to season.”
Foxy Lingerie generously sent me four of their best selling Mapale bra and panty sets, along with a few pairs of their retro back-seam thigh high stockings. Each set is neatly packaged with gorgeous imagery of a model wearing the lingerie set, and I have to say, the lingerie looks exactly like the picture! The website even notes, “we offer the highest resolution images so you can see what products actually look like.” I was delighted to find the quality and fit was not photoshopped or edited. Yes girl, you will look like a sexy Santa snow bunny in that red set!
Hot for the Holidays
What to do when it’s a snowy day in NYC and you have nothing to wear but the latest styles from Mapale? Grab a silk robe, a bottle of bubbly and get cozy with that someone special! Or in my case, my BFF Liv and take over the Roosevelt Hotel! My bestie and I were delighted with how well all the styles fit. All sets were a size small/medium, and thanks to the superior stretchy fabric fit both of our body types. She is closer to a size XS and I’m more of a medium, but all sets fit us both remarkably well!
The “Hot for the Holidays” set may be my favorite. The fit of the bralette was impeccable. Bill confirmed this is their current bestseller. “It just became available and, given the quickly approaching holiday season, customers are stocking up on this style,” he says. Airy mesh in a red plaid print practically molds to your body like a second skin. Honestly, I’ll be wearing this delicate bralette daily now, it’s the most comfortable and supportive thing I’ve worn in a long time, and I try on a LOT of lingerie.
It was a pleasant change of pace to see red plaid in holiday lingerie, I much prefer its understated sophistication over tawdry marabou-trimmed Santa outfits. I really loved the strappy details and gold rings that gave it a hint of glam and luxe. The bottoms are a bit more fussy with strappy details that wrap around the waist and tie- but DANG do they make your butt look cute! These are probably a lot more fun taking off than putting on.
Pop the Prosecco
I styled this set and the “Frills and Thrills” set with Mapale’s gorgeous retro back seam stockings, which are trimmed with little bows. Liv who modeled the set exclaimed, “Oh my god look at my butt, I look like a present!” With a daring cage back design and keyhole front, the panty half of this set definitely puts the “thrill’’ in “Frills & Thrills”.
The bralette also has a stunning sparkly cage back design, and brilliantly closes in the front. The black scallop lace cups fit well for a smaller bust size, I’d say A or B cup. This is a great layering piece to wear with a open back top and show off the strappy cage detail—perfect for a sparkly new years outfit. We found it was also perfect for prosecco-fueled pillow fights.
Baby it’s Cold Outside:Underwear as Outerwear
Nothing brings me holiday joy like styling lingerie as outerwear. Why wear lingerie strictly for the boudoir, or hide it under your clothing? The “Whisper to Me” and “Sophisticated in Stripes” sets beg to be seen, so I styled them both with ultra-luxe and over the top accessories, perfect for a daring new year’s look. Paired with leather pants, sheer dresses, fur coats and a lot of bling, these sets can easily transition from the bedroom to the club. The “Whisper to Me” set makes the perfect risqué top for a night out, a sheer dot mesh bralette is paired with a waist cincher with perfectly placed black and nude colored panels for a slimming, hour-glass effect. I really appreciated the adjustability of the corset-esque piece, which had both grommets to lace up or an easy hook and eye closure in the back. What I really can’t get over is the airy, featherlight mesh used on all Mapale products. It’s so soft and light it’s basically like wearing your birthday suit.
The same mesh is also used in the total femme-fatale “Sophisticated in Stripes” set. Holy bondage bombshell, I’m drooling over the delicate strappy details on the bra and waist of the panty. This panty style features a strappy waist tie that crisscrosses in the back and fastens with a shiny gold hook in the front at your belly button. I’ve never seen a bottom like this and really liked the adjustability for a perfect fit. You also get this in the bra, which has cups made of that magic mesh that fits anywhere from an A to full C cup in the size SM/MED. The “Sophisticated in Strips” bra has already turned into another favorite of mine, I wore it all day after the shoot, the mesh is so light you forget it’s there.
The Father Christmas of Lingerie
“We find carrying as many different sizes as possible to be valuable to our customers, because we know not every woman is the same and we want to be able to offer sexy lingerie to everyone.” -Bill Rowell
I really appreciated the practical way the website is set up, from sizing to the straight forward hi-res images showing the products as is, I have to say I have a new appreciation for a male-owned lingerie business. Bill Rowell has created the ultimate no-nonsense online lingerie shopping experience. The site is easy to navigate for husbands and boyfriends purchasing gifts, or for women to correctly select their size.
The site not only carries breath-taking lingerie in standard sizes, they offer an extensive range of plus size styles too, up to 4X. “We find carrying as many different sizes as possible to be valuable to our customers, because we know not every woman is the same and we want to be able to offer sexy lingerie to everyone,” says Bill. “If we have a product in both standard and plus sizes, we link them together in the product description so it’s easy to find the right size.”
I admire that Foxy Lingerie is right to the point—what you see is what you get, and we stand behind our products. This approach can only come from absolute confidence in one’s products, which I can personally vouch for as I’m on day three of wearing my “Hot for the Holidays” bralette, which I likely won’t take off until after Christmas. I hope I made Foxy Lingerie’s “nice list’’, because I can’t wait to see what collections they present in the New Year.
