Could you expand on what the new theme, “Bring Innovation to Life” is all about?
INTERFILIERE trade shows have been bringing inspiration to many designers, buyers and industry professionals over the years. We have always focused bringing the best and latest products available within the intimates and swimwear sectors by solely working with the most qualitative and advanced suppliers from around the world.
We will focus on the cutting-edge of the lingerie industry, a meticulous selection of the best, newest and most innovative fabrics and products in order to bring added-value and innovation to our first-class professional visitors. The focus will be put on products which are new from a technical or aesthetic point of view.
The new conference on Cosmetic Textiles is new this year. For some of our readers not familiar with the development, can you tell us a bit more?
The cosmetic textile sector is quickly developing with currently a growth rate of 35% per year on average. With the focus on innovation, INTERFILIERE Hong Kong is pioneering a project on cosmetic textiles in Asia.
The micro-encapsulation technology which is used to manufacture certain types of cosmetic textile, mainly in shape wear and on the slimming and beauty market, will be put forth through a range of events during the Hong Kong show including a dedicated information point where visitors will be able to test the fabrics and learn more about them. We will also hold a symposium where manufacturers and customers will share their know-how and experience with cosmetic fabrics.
“We will also hold a symposium where manufacturers and customers will share their know-how and experience with cosmetic fabrics”
A group of industry experts in the field of cosmetic textile have defined a definition which will give the readers a better understanding of what the term stands for: ‘Cosmetic textile is a textile article that contains a substance or a preparation that is intended to be released sustainably on to the different superficial parts of the human body, especially the skin, and which claim one (or more) particular propertie(s) such as cleansing, perfume, change of appearance, protection, maintenance in good conditioner correction of body odours.’
Some of the exhibitors who are participating are Carvico, Eurojersey, Penn Textile Solutions, Piave Maitex and Textile Prestige. These manufacturers are also collaborating with the Hong Kong Polytechnic University students on a project where the BA students in final year (2012-2013) in Fashion & Textiles with specialism in Intimate Apparel – Ace Style Institute of Intimate Apparel, Institute of Textiles & Clothing will create prototypes with the cosmetic textiles. The prototypes will be exhibited during the trade show at the functional & cosmetic textile zone.
Besides the addition of the conferences, can you talk a little bit about how Interfiliere Hong Kong has grown over the last few years.
Hong Kong has been recognised globally for its location at the heart of Asia and at the doorstep of mainland China. This has been one of the advantages of INTEFILIERE Hong Kong as a well-positioned sourcing and business platform to tackle the Asian markets. The show has grown steadily in the last 7 years to reach a very qualitative level with crème de la crème exhibitors and visitors. The Hong Kong platform is a great alternative to the Chinese offer and also a very good representation of the high-end offer thanks to the European and rest of the world exhibitors. The trade show in Hong Kong is visited by the major global manufacturers and brands.
What other new developments should visitors expect this March?
INTERILIERE Hong Kong puts an emphasis on the events taking place during the trade show in order to give the industry visitors value-added information. This year we have a fully packed seminar schedule with speakers from Karl Mayer, the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and Concepts Paris, the most influential branding and design consultancy specialised in body-fashion.
Additionally, during INTERFILIERE Hong Kong we will launch Evolution 21, the trend guidebook and color range for Autumn/Winter 2014/2015.
For the show this month, how many visitors are you expecting? Can you give us a breakdown of the visitors (buyers, press, etc.) and exhibitors?
