The mounting intensity surrounding COVID-19 has sparked Staci Berner, creator of the patented back-smoothing bra company Shapeez (a Maryland based apparel company) to convert the brand’s factory to produce face masks to try and alleviate shortages of PPE equipment to combat coronavirus.

“We stopped production on our bras and shapewear garments over four weeks ago and retooled the factory so that we can now start to create and manufacture face masks, as many as we possibly can to assist in the shortage.”

Marks are washable and reusable. They are two-layer surgical style pleated ear-loop masks are made of an extra-thick 60gsm non-woven Polypropylene outer layer and inner layer of soft, comfortable, breathable, wick-able, odor resistant, anti-microbial and fast drying Polyester. Masks also include an embedded flexible nose piece wire that can be molded over the nose and fit individual face shape better.

Masks are being sold in packs starting at $72. The company has started taking pre-orders on their sister website and will begin distribution next week.

According to Berner, “our masks prevent large droplets of bodily fluids that may contain viruses or other germs from escaping via the nose and mouth. They also protect against splashes and sprays from other people, such as those from sneezes and coughs.”
