Spotlight on Sadia Sisay of beingU
We don’t want to rush the holidays, but there are a lot of exciting lingerie brands heading our way in 2012. A lot of them you’ll see at upcoming trade shows. One of these brands making its US debut at CURVENY is beingU, a new nude lingerie brand for that focuses on women of color and incorporates skin tone, size and body shape into bras, briefs and loungewear.
The range not only provides tonal shades of nude lingerie for darker skinned women but also provides a “bra for the bottom” – specially designed briefs to fit various bottom shapes. The debut being U collection has three lingerie ranges: Teen, Core, Premium and also Loungewear.
Last month, we sat down with beingU founder Sadia Sisay and she introduced us to her new collection. In the video she talks about her brand and what to expect at CURVENY. We’ve also include a few images from the upcoming debut collection. Tell us what you think!
Hi, I’m Sadia Sisay from beingU all the way from London in New York City. I’m here to tell you about our exciting new brand. We’ve launched in the UK to trade in August at Moda and we’re here to get ready for CURVENY in February 2012.
What’s exciting about the core part of our brand is that we’ll be launching bras in five colors for women of color in a variety of skin tones. Different shades. Not just one brown. There will be different shades. So imagine your customers coming in and you can provide that for them.
We also have a young range and a high-end range. Any of those, you’ll find beautiful prints, stunning colors and three styles of bras – a balconnette, plunge and three piece. And three bottom shapes – a boy short, thong and a high waist.
So we’ve got a lot of exciting things going on here. We’ve got the colors, different shapes of the bras and briefs so look out for us at CURVENY in February 2012.
