“Valentine’s Day is a little reminder…to acknowledge our love for one another.”

Everybody has a unique relationship to love. At a time when it is encouraged in society to express our affection, I think it is important that we acknowledge love in all of its forms.
Valentine’s Day has gained a bad reputation among those of us who have not yet found romance, and it is important to me that I make an attempt to pull back the curtain on all of the negative connotations that come with Cupid’s Day, Lingerie, and the relationship between the two.
I have celebrated the holiday since I was a little girl, and with my 25th Valentine’s Day around the corner, I can say that only two of them have been spent with the love of my life. My boyfriend has simply become a part of my red and pink festivities, but my adoration for the holiday had been cemented long before I found him.
“I chose to explore Christine Vancouver for February this year, because it is a brand that every girl should treat herself to, no matter the occasion”
In grade school, my mother was sure to pick me out an outfit with hearts adorned all over it for February 14th. Making a shoe box into a custom Valentine’s day Mail box for class mates to drop notes into was a big deal, and I spent hours getting mine just right. In high school, my army of friends became a part of my festivities by decorating each other’s lockers, and continuing to dress for the occasion. All the while, my mother never failed to surprise my sisters and I with presents wrapped in pink cellophane waiting for us every Valentine’s Day morning at our kitchen place-mat before we left for school. So perhaps I owe it to her, for my lack of bitterness towards the holiday in all of those years prior to falling in love.
“Christine Vancouver for instance, is a brand that makes me feel good about myself everyday.”
In regards to lingerie, it is our habit to only purchase such treasures if someone else will be seeing them. I chose to explore Christine Vancouver for February this year, because it is a brand that every girl should treat herself to, no matter the occasion, regardless of whether someone else will be viewing it or not. There are items of lingerie that one could argue, are ideal for the voyeuristic pleasure of others, but there are also garments that are simply the “good for the soul” pieces of lingerie.
Christine Vancouver for instance, is a brand that makes me feel good about myself everyday. The quality and design of their silky Pajamas is superb, the likes of which Hugh Heffner would be fond of. They are ideal for sleepovers, and those mornings when you wake up to find guests passed out on your couch, as I often do. I was feeling so confident in the dapper black and pink silk set that I even wore them out to brunch with friends. Why the fuck not?
“The white silk has a heavenly quality to it. There is something magnificently angelic about this gown, making it the staple uniform for a nonchalant goddess”
The dressing gown, as I like to call it, is a dream. Christine Vancouver’s design is timeless, and the lace detailing is absolutely exquisite. It is a piece that I cherish dearly, and hope to keep in my collection forever. Since I work from home, I rarely change into an outfit unless I am leaving the house, so it is ideal that my Pajamas make me feel great, the way a cute outfit would, and this nightgown does the trick. The white silk has a heavenly quality to it. There is something magnificently angelic about this gown, making it the staple uniform for a nonchalant goddess.
My boyfriend and I spend the first hour of every day drinking coffee and reading the paper. It is our ritual, if you will, that we have become attached to. And while I do not tend to sit on the edge of the couch with perfect posture, full makeup, and a fresh blow-dry like the picture provided, I do indeed, spend many mornings on that couch, in that nightgown, with the newspaper in hand before taking on the day.
As someone who has found love, I feel a responsibility to go out of my way to make Valentine’s Day special for those of us who fly solo. Having been on the other side of this holiday for most of my life, I know how rare and special it is to have what my boyfriend and I share together. Finding someone is perhaps the most difficult challenge of all, but the search is something we all have in common at some point in our lives.
Valentine’s Day is not unique to how my boyfriend and I express our love for one another. In fact, we don’t treat each other any differently on February 14th than we do any other day, because in our house, EVERYDAY IS VALENTINE’S DAY. We’re mad about each other. And given that we are both a little bit off our rockers, our love is as out of control and colorful as our personalities. Of course, all things considered, passion is passion, and we have the capacity to fight like we’re staging a dramatic play at times. Things are never boring in our company, to say the least, and any of our friends can confirm such things about us.
“It is a time to decorate the walls with hearts cut out of construction paper and put a smile on our loved one’s faces”
As far as I am concerned, St. Valentine’s Day is a little reminder, at the beginning of every year, to acknowledge our love for one another. It is a time to decorate the walls with hearts cut out of construction paper and put a smile on our loved one’s faces by making Valentine’s Day cards, a tradition we have managed to hold onto since the 15th Century. Cupid’s day is an excuse to wear an excessive amount of pink and red. A time to wear hearts on our clothes and be reminded of everything we love. It is a bit suspect, if you ask me, to feel any bitterness towards those cute, chubby flying babies known as cupids.
As the world’s second most celebrated holiday of the year next to New Years Day, it is hard to ignore, so I would hope this year, we all go out of our way to express our love with family and friends.
