Three Trends Spotted At Pure London
There was certainly much to see at Pure London. After perusing the various labels, I had the fortune to sit in on a body trend report provided by WGSN and presented by the Lingerie Stylist. For AW13 the three key trends are as follows:
This trend manifests itself with many monochromatic basics with sportive brights and sherbert pastels in block or rebellious prints. Many of the pieces are gym/sport inspired with racerback details and seamless knickers. You will find the latest technologies in shapewear and environmentally friendly processes here. Retailers are encouraged to purchase versatile loungewear pieces and neon colored lingerie to appeal to the trend lead consumer.
21st Century Romance
Adornment and embellishment are the primary words for this trend. Many pieces for AW13 will feature Renaissance inspired florals and ceremonial opulence. The color palette stays dark and brooding with tones of black, scarlet, and blue with metallic accents. Pieces will be heavy with lace, beading, layered sheers, and embroidery. You will find a resurgence of corsets and corset inspired bras as well as an increased number of erotic inspired accessories. Retailers are encouraged to target the more mature, affluent consumer with this ornate trend.
This trend marries technology with nature. The palette sticks mostly to neuturals but has pops of ochre and berry shades. Living Design manifests itself predominately in loungerwear but elements are repeated within lingerie and swimwear. You’ll find fibrous knitted yarns, soft jerseys and quilting, latex encapsulated lace, laser cut technology and moulded bras. Within this trend you will find a new generation of lace showing organic and geometric forms. Retailers are encouraged to target the comfort lead but tech savvy consumer.
