Two New Styles from EKS Lingerie
Getting dressed for the holidays is one of my favorite things to do each year. It’s the one time when everyone is encouraged to push the envelope a bit in favor of bolder options. Sequins and sparkles are always popular ways to jazz up your holiday style, but thanks to EKS Lingerie designer Melissa Clark, they are not the only way.
Her collection is named after the Greek word ekstasis, which means to be or stand outside oneself, and it is chock-full of items that will allow you to do this.
This winter, Melissa has added two new styles to the line—The Hexagonal Bolero and The Silk V-Neck Bodysuit. Both styles are true to the brand’s aesthetic, which favors minimalism and soulful sensuality. Yet, these styles do anything but blend in, which makes them perfect for those holiday occasions that call for a little bit extra (but without all the glitter!).
The Hexagonal Bolero is made of silk organza, lined in silk faille. It’s delicate rows of soft ruffles wrap around the upper back and neck for a truly unique statement. Melissa designed the bolero to be worn as a seductive evening piece that can be worn in or out of the bedroom.
At a recent runway event she produced with New Orleans Independent Fashion, Melissa paired the bolero with another stunner from her collection—the Holster set. Under the longline harness top and high waist skirt, which are made from 2” adjustable elastic straps and antique brass hardware, she layers the basic stretch silk bandeau and high waist knicker set.
“The bolero is inspired by the glamour of Mardi Gras,” says Melissa. “I’m very inspired by the spirit of New Orleans which includes our parading culture so stand out pieces are my favorite to design.”
This style is far too spirited to leave at home. Pair it with a formal dress for a special occasion, or jazz up a pair of jeans and a bandeau top for a fun, holiday party. While it’s perfect to debut on New Year’s Eve, it might be hard to keep tucked away till then.
The Hexagonal Bolero can be made in any color of your choice. It comes in sizes XS-XL and sells for $950.
Silk V-Neck Bodysuit
EKS’s Silk V-Neck Bodysuit is made of silk charmeuse and cut without darts for a loose fit up top and a stretch silk panty attached at the waist. It’s finished with facing and features an invisible zipper at the center back.
A great layering piece for holiday parties, it looks fabulous with high waisted bottoms, says Melissa. She suggests you layer it over the High Cut Bodysuit if you desire extra support or coverage.
Bodysuits remain an industry staple and there is good reason for their longevity. They work so well as an “all-in-one” foundational garment, says Melissa. “Both supportive and offering bottom coverage, one of my favorite aspects of a foundational bodysuit is that it keeps clothes from sticking to your skin and lets clothing slide easily to create a beautiful silhouette for your outer clothing to rest,” she adds.
We love bodysuits, too, and can’t get enough of this Silk V-Neck Style. Because the top of the garment fits looser than most bodysuits, it creates a more relaxed look when paired with jeans or pants. Its deep neckline and the lush fabric create a dramatic look. Just add your favorite fitted blazer for a show-stopping look. The Silk V-Neck Bodysuit is available in sizes 2-14 and sells for $245.
Pop up at Birdies November 16-17
Both items are made to order, and you can get yours placed in person at Birdies Panties and Swim Boutique in Kansas City, MO, on November 16 and 17. The pop-up shop will feature robes, bodysuits, and small holiday items like eye pillows and eye masks and small cosmetic items, including face masks and bath salts.
