Vice Merchants Bedding Collection
“Vice Merchants blends risqué subject matter with high-end design and luxurious fabrics.” – Jake Katz
Walking around the International Lingerie Show in March, one company name and logo caught my eye as I was talking to a friend in the Miranda room – Vice Merchants
Intrigued, I slowly started losing the flow of conversation and found myself edging towards their booth.
“Who are the Vice Merchants?” I asked myself as I got closer. “What’s up with this booth?”
I noticed that the space had been transformed into a bedroom complete with a bed, curtains and sheets that had been rustled recently – as if the booth’s model had taken a break.
“I was confused and my eyes, heavy with curiosity, gravitated towards the designs on the sheets.”
Looking around, I quickly noticed that there wasn’t lingerie on display. I was confused and my eyes, heavy with curiosity, gravitated towards the designs on the sheets.
I couldn’t stop getting closer and closer and as I got within inches of the bedding, I let out a laugh and exclaimed – “Brilliant!!!”
The Vice Merchants team doesn’t make lingerie but they are purveyors of Sexy – sexy bedding that is.
The design I was looking at was part of their debut bedding collection called Pearl Divers. The 300 thread count Supima Cotton sheets were overflowing with scenes from a racy aquatic wonderland. Women in barely there swimwear – or completely naked – were floating in this beautifully drawn undersea world.
The artwork is as classy as it is sexy and the energy the designs exude is fun and subversive – as if Alphonse Mucha had been let loose on Photoshop after a Red Bull bender.
Jake Katz, owner of Vice Merchants describes his company’s work as blending, “…risqué subject matter with high-end design and luxurious fabrics. We’ve utilized the beauty of the female form to create art inspired design in a unique line of products.”
The Pearl Divers print is a design like no other added Jake. Available in deep blues and rich yellows called Atlantic and Caribbean blues and coral pinks called Virgin Islands, the Pearl Divers presents diving beauties, frisky mermaids, coral reefs, and a bevy of marine life.
Also part of Vice Merchant’s debut offering is Poppy Playground, an exclusive set of super style-y, uber-risqué, 400 thread count Egyptian Cotton sheets.
“The Poppy Playground print (available in pink and taupe) looks like a lush floral pattern but closer examination reveals scintillating sirens and lascivious lovelies engaged in scenes of erotic amour,” said the company.
In addition to the bedding, the Vice Merchants also offer home goods and accessories. They noted that they will soon add bandanas and shower curtains to their “arsenal of subversive goodies.” The artwork is all original from their team of in-house artists and each Vice Merchants design is a limited edition print.
The Vice Merchants, operating with the firm belief that every sanctuary needs a dose of sexy, hope to infuse a little lustful flavor into apartments, houses, and boudoirs across the country with their offerings and we hope retailers take notice.
