Voila le Velo AW16 at The Lingerie Edit
“Voilà le Vélo’s new collection is inspired by eternal love stories…” – Francesca Dallamotta, Voilà le Vélo.
Voilà le Vélo, independent lingerie atelier based in Hackney, London, is showcasing their new AW16/17 collection at the The Lingerie Edit on January 11 & 12, 2016.
“Voilà le Vélo’s new collection is inspired by eternal love stories,” says the brand’s founder and creative director, Francesca Dallamotta. “We thought it would be fun to peek beneath the ball gowns of famous heroines, like Cinderella and Juliet. Maybe they wore playful and seductive underwear, so we started imagining them, then designing it and, Voilà!”. Discover Cinderella’s secrets, Sleeping Beauty’s dreams and Juliet’s ‘je ne sais quoi’, through a collection of delicate colour palettes and contemporary cuts that wink to a nostalgic past.”
Voilà le Vélo’s AW 16 – 17 collection is a display of the finest fabrics and trimmings, from delicate French silk chiffon to elegant patterns from Liberty of London, carefully selected and put together using traditional styles and techniques combined with modern, minimalist cuts.
Above: the Voila le Velo AW16 – 17 Princess Grace set, inspired by the beautiful Grace Kelly, is made in fine stretch silk chiffon with silk flounces, a delicate lace trim and it’s adorned with tiny roses and mother of pearl beads.
Each and every piece is designed by Francesca herself, then handmade in-house or using a trusted workshop when dealing with higher production volumes. Francesca believes in a strict ethical manufacturing policy, and every item goes under her meticulous quality control before being released.
They threaded their first needle in 2012 when Francesca became determined to create lingerie that was fresher, more playful and more understated than what was available on the high street. Lingerie that felt, “more flirty than dirty.”
